A WOMAN was talked down by police after threatened to jump off a dual carriageway bridge this morning.

Sussex Police were called to the A27 at Tangmere where a woman was reported to be standing on the wrong side of the bridge’s railings at 5.08am.

Officers spent nearly an hour speaking to the woman and eventually talked her away from the edge.

They closed the road in both direction for half an hour.

The woman was safely coaxed away from the railings by the officers at 5.59am and the road reopened shortly afterwards.
