COASTGUARDS were alerted after a yacht ran into trouble while travelling through the Solent.
The vessel was around the western part of the strait when its rudder fell off.
The incident happened at 3.15pm yesterday.
The alarm was raised by passengers on board the yacht.
After assessing the situation, Solent coastguards arranged for a large vessel to assist in taking the yacht to Cowes on the Isle of Wight for repairs.
A spokesman for Solent Coastguard said: ‘Everyone on board the yacht was safe and well.
‘It had ran into a bit of trouble because its rudder had fell off.’
