TRAVELLERS have parked four caravans on a public car park near a splash park.

Police were called to the car park, which is owned by Gosport Borough Council, after four caravans were spotted parked up there yesterday afternoon.

The vehicles were to the side of the car park near Stokes Bay Sailing Club and the splash park near the beach, off Stokes Bay Road.

The notice was served by Gosport Borough Council yesterday.

If the group does not move on, the council could apply to the courts for permission to move in and evict the travellers from the area.

The News understands that Hampshire police were called to the scene at about 12.30pm yesterday.
