TRAVELLERS have been told to leave a recreation park or be forcibly removed.

Fareham Borough Council was given possession of the rec on Mill Lane, Titchfield by a district judge at Portsmouth County Court yesterday.

Cllr Sean Woodward, leader of the council said: ‘We have been given possession of the land forthwith and if they don’t leave by Monday we will be down there with the bailiffs and the police.’

The encampment had grown to about 40 caravans since the travellers first arrived last Saturday evening.

Some travellers were already leaving the site yesterday afternoon.

Ian Farrington, assistant manager of the Titchfield Mill pub opposite said: ‘Apart from a few of their kids pushing their luck we haven’t really had any trouble from them.’
