A HUGE tree has crashed down onto the back of a pensioner’s house.

Mary Wall, 76, discovered the damage at her home in Catherington Way, Leigh Park, this morning after returning from her daughter Jeanette Sherrell’s place in Bedhampton, where she had stayed the night.

Strong winds had caused the tree in her neighbour’s garden to topple over and land into the back of her property.

The extent of the damage caused is unknown because the area is completely covered by branches.

Mary’s other daughter Linda Howard said: ‘A massive tree hit the back of my mum’s house.

‘She came back this morning to find it right up against the side of the house at the back.

‘It’s also hit some scaffolding next door.’
