PEOPLE who love trees will be in seventh heaven at an event in Havant.

A tree hunt is being organised by Havant Borough Council to explore the diversity of trees in the area.

People of all ages can take part and will aim to find different species of trees as they walk through Leigh Park.

Maps will be provided for participants.

Georgina Rogers, neighbourhoods development officer for Havant, said: ‘This event has been put together as a unique opportunity to discover the different varieties of trees growing in Leigh Park.

‘We are fortunate to have a group of volunteer tree wardens, which preserve and care for the trees in our area. They do a terrific job.

‘We need more people to get involved with this type of community work.

‘It’s important we take care of our environment and encourage our children to do the same for future generations to enjoy.’

The event takes place from midday to 4pm next Tuesday.

Anyone interested can call Georgina Rogers on (023) 9244 6495 or 07912 478451.
