POLICE have named a 24-year-old motorcyclist who died over the weekend.

Lewis Holmes was riding his motorcycle on Portsdown Hill at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Lewis, of Wellington Avenue, Southampton, sustained serious injuries and died a short time later in Queen Alexandra Hospital.

Speaking in tribute to Lewis, his family said: ‘Lewis is a kind, thoughtful, loving and caring son, brother, uncle and friend.

‘Devoted to his beloved Danni, loved, well-respected and hard working to all that know him.

‘He will be forever missed by all of his family, friends, colleagues, and of course, his cats. He will be loved eternally, not gone, just out for a ride.’

The driver of the other vehicle, a Vauxhall Astra, and his three passengers received minor injuries. Two attended hospital for treatment.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collison. Anyone who did is urged to call 101 and ask for the South East Hampshire Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Roman.
