The family of a Hayling Island man who has died after a road accident have paid tribute to him.

Edward Ault was involved in a crash on the A27 at the slip road on from Havant and Hayling Island earlier this month.

The accident happened at about 9.50am on Wednesday, September 9, when Mr Ault, aged 73, was driving a TVR which was was in a collision which involved a lorry an Audi and a Toyota.

The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene and Mr Ault was taken to Southampton General Hospital but police have revealed that he died on Friday, September 25 from his injuries.

In a tribute statement, Mr Ault’s family said: ‘Edward Ault, (‘Eddie’) 73, from Hayling Island, had a road traffic accident on 9th September in Havant. He received fantastic care from the paramedics, A & E at University Hospital Southampton and the Wessex Neurological Centre.

‘Despite their very best efforts, he died peacefully from his injuries on 25th September, with his family beside him. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.’

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident and would ask anyone with information to ring 101, asking for the Serious Collision Investigation Unit quoting Operation Download.
