HUNDREDS of people have joined a Facebook group in memory of a teenager who died after falling from a bridge in Gosport.
Joey Prew died after the incident in Nimrod Drive in Rowner in the early hours of Sunday morning.
His family believe his death was a tragic accident.
Social networks have been full of tributes in memory to the 17-year-old from Handley Road.
More than 700 people have now joined a Facebook group called R.I.P. Joey Prew and yesterday ‘RIP Joey’ was trending on Twitter.
Some left personal messages on Facebook while others wrote poems.
Floral tributes, letters, candles and poems have also been left at the site where he died, next to the bridge.
On Facebook, Sophie Chidwick wrote: ‘Joey, I’ve been sat here for the last 20 minutes thinking what to write but all I can say is you are going to be missed a lot by a lot of people.
‘You were a good man, can’t believe you’re gone R.I.P mate, sleep tight.’
Jordon Gwalchmai said: ‘Just wish you were here to see how many people truly cared, hung your shirt up today! Rip Joey!’
Joey was a keen footballer and had played for his school.
Adam Sinclair added: ‘I just can’t believe you’re gone mate, so gutted that you won’t be playing for us now.
‘You were a talented fella, the team will play for you now I’m sure and you will forever stay in our memories.’
He added: ‘No-one has had a bad word to say about you Joey and that just proves how much you were and still are loved.’
Police have confirmed that the death is not suspicious.
