TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenager found dead in a Portsmouth park.

The boy, named locally as Jakub Zalewski, 16, was found in St James’s Park, just off Locksway Road in Milton on Friday.

It is believed he had been a pupil at the Harbour School.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We can confirm police were called at 4.26pm on Friday to a report of a body in St James’ Park in Portsmouth.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious.

‘The body is believed to be that of a teenager who was aged in his mid-teens.

‘Immediate next of kin have been informed.’

Officers investigating the death are preparing a file for the Portsmouth coroners’ office. The police say they will not name him until a post mortem and other formal identification procedures have been carried out.

However, a Facebook page has been set up in tribute to the teenager, under the name RIP Jakub Zalewski.

On it family members are asking friends for pictures of Jakub.

One poster, Callum Eaton, said: ‘I’ll miss you man but all those memories I had with you I’ll remember.’
