THE Prince’s Trust has launched maritime course for unemployed youngsters in Portsmouth.

The group will help them into work or training.

The trust, along with Sailing Academy and the Peter Harrison Foundation, is starting Get into Maritime course for unemployed 16 to 25-year-olds.

It comes as more than one in seven young people in Portsmouth is struggling to find work. The free six-day residential programme will run at the UK Sailing Academy in Cowes from September 4 to 9.

Young people will gain qualifications in power boating, as well as taking part in practical sessions.

Get into Maritime is aimed at young people not in full-time education, training or work. After the course, participants are given six months’ support to help them into employment or further training.

A taster day will take place on August 31.

For more information or to book your place contact Sarah Kidd at sarah.kidd@princes-trust.org.uk or text Maritime to 07909 545073.

The deadline is August 17.
