A GROUP of students were stuck in a lift for around an hour and a half.

Firefighters from Southsea fire station were called to White Swan Road in the city centre at around 1am on Saturday after the University of Portsmouth students became stuck in a life in the James Watson residential halls.

A total of eight people were in the lift at the time.

Firefighters were able to release them using a set of lift keys.

Nobody was hurt.
