A lane of the M27 that was closed because of an accident has now reopened.

Hampshire Constabulary was called to the incident at 9.26am today to the collision on the east bound carriageway between junction 11, for Fareham, and junction 12, for Portsmouth.

Reports first indicated two lanes had been closed.

A black Hillman Minx and a silver Vauxhall Insignia collided into each other in the inner lane.

The lane was closed so the vehicles could be recovered and debris could be cleared.

The Highways Agency reopened the road just after 11am.

No one was injured.
