POLICE have launched an investigation after vandals damaged a disabled toilet and set it on fire.

Southsea fire station were alerted to the incident in Castle Field, Southsea, at 8pm last night.

When they arrived they spotted smoke coming from cracks in the roof.

After breaking down the door of the loo they discovered a bin had been set on fire and the handwash machine ripped off the wall.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put out the flames.

Crew manager Rob Strowger said: ‘We had to break into the disabled toilet.

‘It has been passed onto the police to investigate.
