WORK to create new community facilities in Clanfield is now under way following a ground-breaking ceremony on the site in Green Lane.

The new project is being paid for by David Wilson Homes as part of an agreement to build new houses.

Facilities being built include new football pitches, tennis courts, a games area and allotments for local residents together with a multi- purpose community centre.

The construction company invited local councillors and representatives from East Hampshire District Council to mark the start of work on site and Stuart Goodwill from the housebuilder said this was a milestone in ensuring Clanfield has wide-ranging facilities for residents of all ages.

Clanfield Parish Council said it welcomed the start of construction of the community building and looked forward to completion of all of the agreed community facilities.

Mr Goodwill said: ‘These new facilities have been an integral part of building a new community in Clanfield.’
