A FASCINATING series of paintings are on show at a cathedral.

Artist Louise Gardam is showcasing her work in
the exhibition entitled The Inner Voice at Chichester Cathedral.

Ruth Poyner, cathedral spokeswoman, said: ‘Louise’s paintings are very evocative and take months to produce.

‘She uses oils, acrylic and enamel, and the technique of sgraffito, where a process of scratching reveals layered colour.

‘By combining strong gestural brushstrokes with tiny labour intensive mark-making, the finished paintings have a sense of both freedom and restraint.

‘These are delicate and dynamic artworks – all exhibited in a beautiful cathedral setting – they are getting a very positive response from our visitors.’

Entry is free and the exhibition runs until Tuesday, April 29.
