Terror concerns spark security drive at Hampshire ports

A NEW composition commissioned by Portsmouth Grammar School for Remembrance Day has been nominated for a prestigious award.

'As With Voices and With Tears' by composer Tansy Davies, used in the school's Remembrance Day ceremony, will go up against two other pieces in the classical music category at the South Bank Sky Awards 2011.

The awards are one of the world's most coveted in the arts, celebrating the best of British culture and achievement across theatre, opera, dance, music, comedy, film and literature.

James Priory, headmaster at PGS, said: 'It is a tremendous achievement for the school to be nominated for such a prestigious award - we believe that this is the first time in the classical music awards' 14-year history that a school has ever been involved.'

The ceremony will be broadcast on Sky Arts 1 HD on January 25.
