Residents are being urged to help transform part of Bidbury Mead recreation ground by voting to win up to £25,000 of funding to improve the children’s play area.

Gosport-based environmental charity Groundwork is hoping the support of the Havant community in the Transform Your Patch programme, sponsored by Britvic, will boost Bidbury Mead’s chances of funding.

Andy Paffett, open spaces team leader at Havant Borough Council, said of the Bedhampton recreation ground: ‘Bidbury Mead recreation ground is already an important focal point for the Bedhampton community and has an active friends group dedicated to making improvements.

‘But I would like local people to show just how important it is by voting for it to receive additional funding.

‘If successful, local children will be involved in the design of the play area which might include more natural features along with traditional equipment.’
