VOTES are needed to push a landmark to the top of a photograph competition.

HMS Warrior is vying to be named the country’s favourite coastal heritage photo and the ship, pictured, is in second place in the Celebrating Coastal Heritage picture competition.

But votes from the public could help boost it to the top spot before the contest closes this Sunday.

The Portsmouth image is one of 24 finalists selected from nearly 2,000 entries to the competition.

The Department for Communities and Local Government, in partnership with English Heritage, has been running the competition to celebrate coastal heritage and for the final 24 they chose photos that they felt best capture the heritage of the coast, while also reflecting a range of subjects, areas of the country and photographers.
