Charlotte said: ‘Newtown has always been very special to Chris and I. We were married here in 2015 and my family are from the village.

‘We’re delighted to be opening the famous church fete.

‘Fingers crossed, the sun shines and plenty of money is raised.’

Last year, the fair raised £14,000 for community projects including The Rowans Hospice in Purbrook and the Countess Mountbatten Hospices.

More than 1,000 attended with 150 villagers helping to put on the event.

The fair will have stalls, shows, a dog show, classic cars and a working steam engine.

There will be live music too for families to enjoy.

It is on Saturday in the gardens of Meonwood, Woodend at 1.30pm.
