A FAMILY from Hayling Island took on a huge challenge to raise money for the Rowans Hospice by walking a 15-mile round trip together.

Stan Rogers, 78, Lorraine Lindsay, 50, Heather Rogers, 44, Sue White, 50, Coralie Lindsay, 17, and Coralie’s boyfriend John Gilbert, 17, took part in the Langstone Harbour Waterside Walk yesterday in a bid to raise money for the cause.

After the five-and-a-half-hour trek, Stan said: ‘It was really hard going in the last five miles, they were the longest, I just felt like they were never going to end.

‘But I’m really proud of myself and all my family that we made it the whole way round.’

The amount of money raised is still being totted up.
