THE recent warm weather will continue this weekend despite heavy rainfall forecasted.

According to the Met Office, Portsmouth and surrounding areas will have highs of 11C.

But tomorrow will see heavy rainfall around midday with it expecting to ease off at about 3pm.

Wind speeds of up to 24mph are also expected tomorrow morning.

The light afternoon wind will continue into the evening but will reach highs of 26mph by midday on Sunday.

The windy conditions will remain the same for the rest of the day.

The heavy rain is also due to return Sunday afternoon but the temperature will stay around 10C.

Average temperatures for the country was around eight degrees celsius – four degrees higher than the average.

A spokesman said: ‘The warmer temperatures means this December were closer to those normally experienced during April or May.’

Figures from the Met Office revealed it has been the second wettest December on record.

Across the country an average 211mm of rain fell with only December 1929 recording more with 213mm of rain.
