Firefighters will go on strike again tonight in the latest round of industrial action after a bitter dispute over pensions and the retirement age.
The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) announced its members would strike tonight and on January 3 for a few hours.
The first strike takes place tonight from 6.30pm until 12.30am on New Year’s Day.
The next is on January 3, from 6.30am until 8.30am.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service has produced a film giving people safety advice during industrial action.
A spokesman said: ‘We would like to reassure the public that emergency calls will be answered and responded to during the planned industrial action by the FBU.
‘We will remain in operation as usual throughout the period of industrial action and are calling for your assistance in reducing calls during that time.
‘If you have an emergency dial 999 and we will we send an emergency response, but our level of response will be limited and may take longer than usual.
‘Our response will focus on the highest risks to life.’
