WALKERS are being warned about the dangers of sinking harbour mud after two women had to be rescued.

Two women became trapped in Snowhill Creek, near West Wittering, after trying to take a short-cut last Sunday.

They were rescued by a lifeboat from Hayling Island RNLI.

One of the women, who did not want to be named, said: ‘We thought we could take a short cut across the sand bank but it turned out to be mud.

It was good that our friends could raise the alarm and that the RNLI got to us so quickly.’
