GREEN-fingered people are being invited to swap seeds in Havant.

The Green Party has organised a Seed Swap Sunday at Wordsouth, in The Pallant.

Most people who buy or collect seeds for sowing vegetables or flowers end up with more than they need.

Organisers hope the event will enable them to donate their surplus for others to use – and at the same time find ones they might want to try themselves.

Organiser Tim Dawes said: ‘This is a simple way to extend the use of your seeds across the community. There is no entrance fee and no money changes hands. Attendees donate what they don’t need and take away what they do.

‘We hope that it will also be a social occasion with horticultural ideas and experiences as well as seeds being exchanged.’

Attendees are asked to make sure they clearly label any seeds they bring. Cuttings, small garden tools and surplus produce are also welcome.

The event takes place between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, February 20.
