Dramatic video shows a fire raging at Spitbank Fort in the Solent.

The short film was taken by Chris Holloway as emergency services rushed to the drama at sea.

The alarm was raised at around 5.30pm yesterday after the blaze broke out at the luxury hotel on Spitbank Fort, off Portsmouth.

Lifeboats from Gosport, Portsmouth and Bembridge were sent to the fort in case people there needed to be evacuated. The Coastguard Rescue Team from Portsmouth was also tasked.

However, within 15 minutes of the first report, the fire was under control and by 6pm it was out.

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service assisted in the transportation of Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service crews to the fort so they could assess the site.
