WATCH: Queen Elizabeth finds out she will take the throne in 1952

The Queen notched up another remarkable achievement today as she celebrates the 65th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

Her Majesty will become the first British monarch to reach a Blue Sapphire Jubilee.

But today also marks the anniversary of the death of King George VI, at the age of just 56.

As part of the celebrations, we’ve also had a look back at some of the Queen’s visits to Portsmouth over the years, including trips to meet officers from the Royal Navy.

In November, the Queen and Prince Philip have another anniversary to look forward to, when they celebrate their platinum 70th wedding anniversary.
