A COMPANY has celebrated a milestone birthday by donating thousands of pounds to charity.

Thomas Sanderson, based in Waterberry Drive, Waterlooville, has reached the grand old age of 20.

Staff at the company - which makes blinds - decided to nominate The Rowans Hospice, in Purbrook, as its dedicated charity and spent the company’s birthday party raising money for the organisation.

Managing director Nigel Campkin, explained: ‘We wanted to do something slightly different and took 20 as our theme.

‘Every 20 minutes we gave away raffle prizes including 20lbs of potatoes, a 20 watt radio, 20 dusters and a day’s holiday on the 20th of the month.

‘As a company we gave away 20 minutes of our pay roll and in total we have raised £2,020 for The Rowans.’

There are events planned throughout the year and money will also be raised for the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of a colleague.
