FIRE crews were called to tackle a barn fire in Waterlooville.

Two appliances from the retained Waterlooville fire service and water carriers from Cosham and Fareham were sent to the metal barn in Plant Farm, London Road, just before 9pm last night.

Fire fighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a foam jet to put the blaze out.

A spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the 25 by 35 metre building was formed of rolled steel joists and fibre board.

The crews sent out were quick to bring the fire under control and the incident was over at 9.49pm.

No one was inside the barn at the time.

The spokesman added the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
