Loud and Proud is a group for people aged 16 to 25 and it’s a volunteering scheme that operates in the Gosport area, helping out all different generations of people.
Working with older people we bridge the gap between the older and younger generation, as older people can sometime be a bit scared of the young generation – we help stop that.
At the moment we’ve got a couple of events lined up that we’re planning to do.
We’ll be doing a litter pick in Leesland Park on Sunday at 1pm and we’ve got a couple of first aid courses going on.
We’ve also got an animation workshop at the submarine museum.
We’ve got constant interest at the moment in terms of members, we get people coming and going.
New people come in and old people go.
We’ve recently been going into schools, that’s been our main thing at the moment.
That’s going well as we’ve been talking to classes about charity events and promoting Loud and Proud.
Most of the kids are quite interested and are quite keen to ask questions and find out more about us because of the unique aspects of the group.
We explain that how we work means that the volunteering side of it is not long days, instead we do short snippets of volunteering.
That’s so we can fit into people’s busy lifestyles – they haven’t got loads to do.
They all seem to enjoy it, they enjoy the presentation that we give.
And we have a fair few acoustic gigs and variety shows lined up that we’re trying to plan ourselves as a group.
We do help out at occasional groups and most of it is aimed at raising money for charity, others in Gosport and ourselves.
