MANY years ago, when I came across Toastmasters for the first time, I had no real understanding of what people were recommending or why.

Solent Speakers is affiliated to Toastmasters and we are a not-for-profit organisation that helps people with public speaking.

Solent Speakers has helped around 400 people from all walks of life and continues to provide proven expert help to new members.

However scared and frightened people may be of speaking in public, the friendly and supportive members have years of experience in coaching newcomers to overcome their fears.

The nervous Best Man and the person wanting to succeed at interview are just two examples of success.

When I went to my first meeting, I had no idea what to expect.

If you feel the same, I can only say that my first visit was one of my best decisions.

Competence and confidence in speaking in public are crucial skills.

There’s no obligation to speak or take an active part until you are ready.

On the other hand, we are more than happy for people to jump right in. If you want a mentor, we can oblige.

This is the second club where I have had the privilege to be president.

After a ten-year gap, I find that my passion and enthusiasm is stronger than ever.

If you want to find out more, please feel free to contact me.

If you are ready to take a look, just come along to one of our Tuesday meetings. I look forward to meeting you.

The next meeting is Tuesday, January 22 at 7.15pm at Lysses House Hotel, Fareham.

Call 07901 803728 for more information.
