Weekend clubs in Gosport aim to tackle loneliness

TWO new clubs are looking to tackle loneliness and provide social events for older people.

Brendoncare Clubs is launching the weekend sessions in Gosport and they will offer a range of activities including games and quizzes.

Launching next week, it is hoped the clubs will ensure members can interact with others and make friends.

Lora Stares, club support for Hampshire-based Brendoncare, said: ‘Weekends can be very long when you have no family or friends around you, or if they are busy.

‘Some services close over the weekend and so social opportunities can be limited.

‘Our weekend clubs provide fun and friendship and we hope lots of people will come along and find out more about the new clubs.’

Both clubs launch on Saturday, May 6. One will run between 10am and midday at Lee-on-the-Solent library, in High Street, while the other will run between 1pm and 3pm at the Club Hampshire Centre, off Willis Road. They cost £2.50 with the first week free.
