A NEW transport group has been set up to manage transport issues across a district.

Winchester City Council, who look after Wickham, Bishop’s Waltham and Swanmore have set up the Winchester District Transport Board.

Aims of the board will be to consider transport-related issues in the area, develop strategies, policies and work to deliver major projects in the area.

The council hope that public transport providers, transport policy-makers and other interested groups will join the board.

Cllr James Byrnes, portfolio holder for transport on the council, said: ‘We have considered carefully how the council can best address transport issues.

‘This board will help provide that focus.’
