Window falls into busy high street from above

SHOPPERS in a busy high street narrowly avoided injury when a window crashed to the ground from a first-floor flat.

It fell from above a shop in High Street, Gosport, smashing on the ground below.

Lisa Williams is the owner of Bizzie Bees, the shop under the property.

She was at the back of the store on Tuesday afternoon when she heard a loud crash.

She said: ‘It was quite loud, so our lady who works in the shop went out to see what happened.

‘It was just a freak incident – I think the wind took it.

‘There were people in the high street so it could’ve hit someone but as luck would have it, it didn’t.’

She added that the landlord said the windows will now be replaced to prevent a future incident.

Ms Williams is a member of Gosport’s Town Team.

She said the incident highlights the importance of knowing the landlords in the area.
