‘Winter is the worst time and we wanted to support them’

GIVING BACK Staff from Swain & Co are preparing to spend a night sleeping rough

GIVING BACK Staff from Swain & Co are preparing to spend a night sleeping rough

  • by Katie White

MYSELF and my colleagues from Swain & Co Solicitors in Havant are arranging a sponsored sleep out on January 18 to raise money for Two Saints.

Homelessness is an issue which the firm’s housing department are increasingly concerned about and deal with on a daily basis.

With the economy in decline it is also an issue which has become more prevalent in the community.

Myself, Kelly Evans, Yas Patel, Melanie Kingsley, Shane Galvin, Tina Smith, Maureen Treagust and Lynda Mills will be sleeping outside The Foyer in Portsmouth.

We will be experiencing something of what it is like to be on the street and homeless in Portsmouth.

We wanted to arrange the sleep out in winter to challenge ourselves.

We also wanted to show support for the street homeless for whom winter is the worst time.

Two Saints work with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

They provide high quality housing, support and learning services.

They work with single adults aged 16 to 65 across a variety of services including hostels, managed housing, support in the community, emergency accommodation, access to healthcare, repatriation and specialist support and learning services.

They do a lot of work in the community for the homeless and a number of our clients obtain supported accommodation through them so we have personal experience of the work they do.

A sponsorship page has been set up so that people can sponsor our efforts. Visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/swainandcosleepout.
