AN elderly woman has died four days after a head-on crash at Bedhampton.

The 83-year-old woman, from Fareham, was a passenger in a car involved in a collision between a green Honda Civic and a white Ford Fiesta shortly before 4pm on Friday.

The accident happened in Portsdown Hill Road close to the junction of Beverley Grove.

The woman was a front seat passenger in the Honda Civic and sustained life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to Southampton General Hospital where she died on Tuesday afternoon. Her family were at her bedside.

The driver of the Civic, an 84-year-old man from Fareham, suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham for treatment.

He was transferred to Southampton General Hospital where he is recovering.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta, an 18-year-old man from Wickham, was uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw either vehicle before the incident, to call Sgt Shaun Hopkins at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Allerstone
