Twelve categories to choose from in The News Woman of the Year Awards 2014
THERE is no doubt that beautiful clothes, shoes, accessories and jewellery make us feel fabulous.
That’s why The News Woman of the Year Awards wants to celebrate all the creative people who can make you feel special.
The prestigious awards are now in their second year following the huge success of last year’s.
They were set up to shine a light on all those women whose hard work, talent and selfless acts usually go unrecognised.
The event is sponsored by She Who Dares, the luxury jewellery and accessories brand set up by entrepreneur Rachel Lowe.
We want to know about all the women you believe deserve an award from one of the 12 categories – from Woman of Courage to Mum of the Year.
Last year’s winner of the Woman in Fashion category was jewellery designer Charlotte Cornelius.
Charlotte, from Hayling Island, creates bespoke jewellery in her signature style, using ethically-sourced metals and precious gems.
The 47-year-old mum, of Bacon Lane, has been designing stunning pieces for special occasions for the past 20 years.
She said: ‘It was a real confidence-booster to win and it was very flattering.
‘It’s been great to be able to have the certificate on my wall and I was able to blog about it.
‘I would definitely recommend thinking about who you might want to nominate.
‘Even being nominated is a real honour. It’s like someone is encouraging you and recognising you, so you feel like what you are doing is good.
‘The awards are a good idea because it’s not just for business people, it’s people across the community.’
