A WOMAN was taken to hospital after slipping on the steps of a Portsmouth railway bridge and getting her head trapped under a handrail.

Firefighters were called to the incident on Kendal Avenue, Copnor, at 9.45pm yesterday to cut the handrail and free the woman.

It is believed she received head and hip injuries during the fall and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham, by ambulance.
