Have your say

SOME of the finest model boats you are ever likely to see were on display in Gosport.

It was quite a spectacle as 14 model yachts took to the water to race at the boating lake at Walpole Park.

The event is steeped in history and attracts competitors from around Britain and indeed, the world.

Mervyn Cook, commodore of Gosport Model Yacht and Boat Club, said: ‘It’s a national competition of the Vane “A” Class Model.

‘It’s been raced at Gosport since 1922. The boats are carbon-fibre, intricately-designed and built, sophisticated racing boats.’

The racing will go on every day until Friday.
