Young tennis player meets stars

MASCOT Cheyenne Cates

MASCOT Cheyenne Cates

AN eight-year-old girl from Portsmouth met some of the world’s best tennis players as a mascot during the Barclays ATP Tour Finals.

Cheyenne Cates led the stars onto centre court for one of the group matches at the O2 Arena in London.

The youngster is a keen participant at Barclays Spaces for Sports (BS4S) Portsmouth FC flagship site in Eastney – where she regularly attends tennis coaching sessions – was chosen by the site to be the official mascot.

A Barclays spokesman said: ‘We are delighted to be able to give Cheyenne the opportunity to lead two of the top eight finalists at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals out onto court as an official mascot.’

The mascot opportunity is just one of many Barclays’ tennis activities taking place for the tournament.

BS4S also gave away 1,000 free tickets for the Barclays ATP World Tennis Finals to young participants at their 200 sports sites across the country. Twenty participants will be able to take part in a coaching session at the O2 with former Wimbledon champion and tennis legend Boris Becker.
