BUDDING musicians are being urged to crank up their guitars at a rock school in Southsea this summer.

Wannabe metal heads will get the chance to work with industry professionals during The Kings Theatre Rock School.

The event, which is being held between August 28 and 30, has been set up by the theatre, in Albert Road, Southsea, and live music venue the Wedgewood Rooms.

Joanna Bennington, youth theatre co-ordinator, said: ‘Those attending do not necessarily have to play an instrument or sing – but they must have a passion for music.

‘As well as song-writing, the summer school will also have an emphasis on music marketing by giving the opportunity to the participants to create their own band and present their work to industry professionals.

‘Everyone will also get the opportunity to play on one of Portsmouth’s most prestigious stages at an evening concert to demonstrate their work with support from session musicians.’

Tickets cost £85 per child and there is a £10 discount for siblings.
