YOUNGSTERS are being encouraged to take part in a skating competition.

Planet Ice, in Gosport, is looking for the next skating star between the ages of eight and 14 to take part in their competition.

Taking place this Saturday, they are opening their doors to 15 budding skaters, all of whom will be issued an unlimited skating pass and six skating lessons.

Jill Grindrod, the manager at Planet Ice, off Forest Way, said: ‘We are very excited to be holding the Skating Stars competition after the great success we had last year.’

The competition will send home 10 skaters over time to get to five lucky finalists.

They will then compete in Planet Ice’s gala.

Jill added: ‘On the finals night we will announce the winner and they will receive a voucher towards a brand new pair of skates.

‘They will also receive a year’s free unlimited ice skating pass and the opportunity of featuring in a Christmas Ice Show.’
