HUNDREDS of pupils from schools in Portsmouth will learn about Olympic values through drama, puppetry and dance.

St Mary’s Church in Fratton has invited the youngsters for a day of workshops and celebrations tomorrow as part of the countdown to the Olympic torch relay.

They will watch a performance by the Openbox Theatre Company before exploring the Olympic theme through dance, drama, puppetry, sports and banner-making.

The vicar of St Mary’s Canon Bob White, said: ‘We will be exploring in different ways the values of the event and also Olympic heroes who have demonstrated those values of courage, determination, respect, equality, friendship, excellence and inspiration.

‘We hope to end the day with our own Olympic parade and, above all, to have lots of fun.’

The youngsters will come from Arundel Court Junior School, Charles Dickens Junior School, Cottage Grove Primary School, Flying Bull Primary School, Newbridge Junior School, Somers Park Primary School and St George’s Church of England Primary School.
