YOUNGSTERS from across the area have been rewarded tonight as The News Youth Awards took place.

The awards recognise the incredible achievements made by our young people both academically and personally.

The awards took place at the Kings Theatre in Southsea, with a packed audience full of children, family and friends, as well as members of staff from different schools.

There were 11 awards handed out for various different categories including Star of the Family, Learner of the Year and Best Friend of the Year.

The overall winner was Sam Merrick, a youngster who has battled illnesses all his life, but has still managed to keep a smile on his face.

See tomorrow’s paper for a full breakdown of the winners.
