Former Emmerdale and Fat Friends actress Lisa Riley is to return to Southsea in pantomime this Christmas.
She will play the Genie of the Ring in Aladdin at the Kings Theatre alongside former Brookside and Coronation Street star Michael Starke, whose booking for the role of Wishee-Washee was first revealed in The News. His wife, Lynn Francis, will appear with him as the Empress.

Ms Riley accepted the invitation to return after appearing at the Kings in the touring production of The Naked Truth last week and lighting the torch of Aurora on the theatre's iconic tower.

Theatre promotions officer Sandra Smith said: 'Lisa was so popular when she was here in Jack And The Beanstalk, our 2006-07 panto, that we thought we would ask her back.

'She said she'd had such a good time then, and again last week, that she would be delighted to accept.'

Aladdin will run from December 9 to January 3. Tickets: (023) 9282 8282 or kings-southsea.com
