Lifelong Pompey fan Edward Minghella wants new owners to come in looking to invest in the club's long-term future.
The world-famous luxury ice cream maker has been going to Fratton Park for 61 years and can be found in the Frogmore Road stand at every home match. At 88 years old, his passion for the Blues is stronger than ever. He got in touch with The News to se
nd out a clear message to any businessmen looking to buy the club.

'You can't just walk in here with £30m. Anyone taking over the club needs at least £100m to put in. We need a new stadium, training facilities and youth academy. That's the only way to get ahead now,' he said.

Mr Minghella, father of the late Hollywood film director, Anthony Minghella, added: 'My son would be very upset about what has happened. We all are.'

He also revealed he was approached to buy the club shortly before the last time it went into administration.

'It was going to cost us £5m to buy the club. But we couldn't do it. You need a lot of money to invest after you buy.

'There's so much potential there though, we just need someone who will come in to wake this sleeping giant.

'I'm sick of people coming in trying to make a quick buck.'

If only his son was alive to have seen the final and then to have made the movie about the last three years at Fratton Park.
Edward Minghella's comments are exactly right - owner need to be in it for the long haul, not at the first opportunity to extract a profit and leave - no 5 year plan to build the club up to appear profitable so it can be sold on... I think Milan was a little guilty of that.. the foundations just weren't there when Sasha took ownership, but maybe Storrie was in place telling him all was well and all (tax) bills were being paid etc

Yes - one of the stains posted it last night as a taunt against for losing by that score.

I loved it so much as it sums up us and them in a short and holarious catch phrase that I adopted it!!!
