Two people were arrested yesterday morning as part of an investigation into animal rights extremism.
The 26-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage and were yesterday in custody being questioned by officers.

The arrests were made at a home in Clarence Road, Gosport, and officers were yesterday searching the property.

The arrests relate to incidents of criminal damage that occurred in the Winchester, Fareham, Hedge End and Farnborough areas in September and October last year.

The News understands that the two are members of the Southern Animal Rights Coalition, but the police have not confirmed this.

There were also two arrests yesterday in Worcester, as part of the same operation.
