So there I was, ankle-deep in mud, trying to visualise a new motorway junction off the M275.
I was in Tipner, at the official launch of the new roadworks that will kickstart the area’s regeneration.
It’s high time it happened.
I miss there being a random submarine half-submerged in the water around Tipner, and the LARCs – those giant amphibious vehicles – stranded at Pounds Yard.
But that’s part of Portsmouth’s history that won’t be forgotten, and it’s time now to embrace its future.
The more that can be done to attract businesses to the city and regenerate an area that, though well-loved, clearly needs it, the better.
I hope the launch of the new motorway junction heralds a bright new future for Tipner.
