A COMMITTEE is looking for new members to oversee decisions that will help protect the Portsmouth area from flooding.

The Environment Agency (EA) is looking to bring in two new independent members, one of which will lead on conservation, to join the Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC).

Both posts will cover all or part of the southern regions, including Hampshire, Sussex, Kent and the Isle of Wight.

The RFCC decides on local priorities for flood risk management and members look at projects to help communities from all sources of flooding.

James Humphrys, EA area manager said: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to support all the authorities involved in dealing with flooding to make a real difference.’

Members are all appointed as impartial individuals and not as representatives of any organisation.

To apply, contact Jo Matthews for further information via email at southernrfcc@environment-agency.gov.uk or on 020 3025 7124.
