PLANS to build a multi-use games area and to provide outdoor gym equipment outside a new leisure centre are set to be decided next week.

Following the opening of the Holly Hill Leisure Centre in Sarisbury Green last week, Fareham Borough Council’s executive will decide on Monday at a meeting in the Civic Offices whether to allocate £130,000 to carry out the works.

If the executive approves the funds, the works will be issued out to tender with construction potentially starting in January and being completed by next summer.

The council says it will consult councillors, residents and school as part of the process to determine what is included within the game area.

Construction of the new £9m leisure centre in Barnes Lane was completed last week after decades in the making.

The centre features a 25m pool with six lanes, a learner pool, gym, exercise room, group cycling studio and a dance studio.

Approval has already been given by the executive for £150,000 to be allocated for the children’s play area.

The centre is set to be officially opened by Olympic gold medallist swimmer Adam Peaty on Monday.
